Reclaimed Pennant Stone outbuilding
We recently completed this stunning outbuilding in Thornbury near Bristol, built entirely from scratch using reclaimed Pennant stone. The stone, salvaged from an 18th-century barn, was carefully cleaned and dressed to ensure its integrity and character were preserved. Using a traditional random rubble technique, we crafted the structure to seamlessly match the clients’ existing home. They entrusted us with the task of blending old with new, relying on our expertise in heritage stonework to create a timeless addition to their property.
Pennant flagstone patio transformation
One of our favourite jobs to date – this patio transformation in Clifton, Bristol was a truly special project. We used reclaimed pennant flagstones and rubble building stone, salvaged from an old rectory, to create a space full of character and history. The design featured a sweeping stone wall and large flagstone steps, all built and pointed using traditional lime mortar, as per our client’s specifications. Our expertise in lime work ensured the best possible finish, blending craftsmanship with timeless appeal.
Sandstone step cladding
A job we completed in Cotham, Bristol. These steps on a beautiful period property were transformed to enhance both appearance and durability. The client was experiencing damp issues beneath the stairs and wanted a smarter, more refined finish. We carefully clad the existing concrete steps in Forest of Dean sandstone, expertly cutting and bullnosing each piece on-site to ensure a perfect fit and a timeless look.
coursed stone extension
A job we completed using Purbeck sandstone and lime mortar – this stone extension was built to blend seamlessly with the existing building. To achieve the best match, we used a coursed technique and carefully tested different mortar colours to get the pointing just right. The extension features a beautifully crafted splayed window, adding character and depth, and is finished with elegant Bath stone copings for a refined touch.
